Summary of "The Beauty of Full Figure"

8,000 years ago, Sha'ar Hagolan was once the largest city in the Middle East, like New York or London.
They had great technology of fired-clay pottery and created elegant, stylized designs such "Mother goddess" figurines which have squinty eyes and massive belly fat.
They are found by archaelogist Yosef Garfincle. According to him, these figurines have been used in routine households as a good-luck charm for feritility and the well-being of their family.

  1. Kana, great article to choose to summarize. It's interesting because nowadays, belly fat is abhorred, not revered! I guess in those days, the fat meant, well, that you had had PLENTY to eat - and you were definitely LIVING! I think too that the full, fat belly is supposed to remind people of a very ripe fruit!
