Off to Tunisia this summer for two months to study Arabic, I can hardly wait!

Meantime reconnected with three students today - Anatoliy, here on the blog, Abdul Majeed visiting from Missouri and my student Nadia, who now works at Lalime restaurant in Berkeley - so grateful to have had these shining stars in my life!

blogging about my projects

My first proposal is underway, the comparison between Arabic and English metaphor in political discourse in the media.  I need to work on my second one, most probably on Wednesday - all day - they are due so soon!  I feel very inspired and love my work!

Focus

My main meditation right now is to try to remain focused.  I also wish to integrate more design into my life including photography!  Studying Arabic right now, need to practice speaking!

Musing

Feeling ever so grateful for this life, my family and my friends.  Realizing the importance of discipline in all facets of life - have been swimming 2x a week at the university and keeping up with house chores and gardening on top of studying - it's a good life - only thing is - missed my deadline to graduate in the spring -  will now graduate in December of 2012 - more time to study more topics!  It's all a big blessing!

Yes, I made the switch and I am so happy that I did. The work is hard, but so rewarding. We are working on the Turkish language this semester in preparation for our work with the Zapotec language in Teotitlan del Valle, near Oaxaca, Mexico. This is so exciting!

I'm back!

Hi everyone,

It's been a while - I'm busy writing a paper about maxims - though I feel pressured, I'm enjoying researching and writing about this topic.  I'm specifically going to look at the Italian speech community that I am a part of in Tuscany.

Lots to do this weekend besides writing this paper - have to complete another project and write my letter of intent to switch over to linguistics  - YES, I finally made up my mind to do the switch!  Am I ever pleased.
Though TESOL was a great program, I had outgrown it...
