When Foreigners Pronounce Thai

Communication is very important for people to survive in society. I'm one who loves to learn another language to improve myself. In addition, I used to take Japanese classes when I was in high school however, I forgot everything because I didn't use it in my daily life. By the way, everytime when I hear some foreigners speak Thai, I am so surprised and proud of them. Also my brother in law, he can speak Thai too eventhough he's an American. Absolutely, he can speak very well.
More than that, I know a guy who is willing to be a missionary in Thailand. Last New Year's party I met him by chance at church and wanted to check his Thai accent. After having a conversation, I noticed that he studied Thai so hard and he ready to visit Thailand as a "Thai-American person". Unfortunately, he made a mistake when he wanted to say I was so beautiful. He said "Khun Suay Mak".He pronouned the word Suay with high tone and that meant you are unlucky. On the other hand, if he pronounced Suay with low tone, it would be correct. So, I quickly corrected him because I didnt want to be an unlucky girl.
Please remember this all you American!
