We biked ot the UC Botanical Garden on Saturday. It was just cold the whole time we were there. I don't have much to talk abot this but I have tons of pictures to show you guys.
These cacti are mostly from South Africa. Just think about how pleasant it would be if you are travelling in a desert, thirsty and hopeless. Then you see these plants, it must be very encouraging. There is life around you, you are not the only life in the desert. It can cheer you up. ^_^
Look at the flowers above, those are carnivorous plants. They use the colorful flowers as their bait to trap the insects. And the hairy one is also carnivorous. It has those hairs for a reason, to trap the prey. Nature is complicated and very beautiful. I still have a lot more pictures but I am afraid you guys will be bored seeing too much from me. Anyway for more info about the garden you can check it out online at http://botanicalgarden.berkeley.edu/

And these plants are in a greenhouse called the Fern & Carnivorous Plant House. I enjoyed looking for the spores of the ferns. They are good at hiding their spores.

I think you like a macro-photo
ReplyDeletePim, wow wow wow wow! I LOVE your posts with your lovely stories and your gorgeous photos - I am now inspired to go back to the Botanical gardens. Maybe we could all go on a field trip with our class? We could easily walk there and make a day of it especially if we bring a bag lunch!
ReplyDeleteTrying to keep warm - looks like the sun is coming out now - woo hoo! See you tomorrow - D
PIm, PLEASE PLEASE post as many photos as you want - this is such a rich resource for us - it is like a photodocumentary for all of us to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up an old book of mine called Ecology, and your writing sort of reminded me of the book. I think we should read this book together in class, I think you'll like it.
hugs, D
